Heat Advisory

Fire Update From Sonoma County Fire Chief Mark Heine. Community Partners and Leaders, This is an early “heads up” to incoming critical fire weather this weekend. The National Weather Service is forecasting the following: Temperatures over 100 degrees Sunday-Tuesday Low humidity Strong off-shore (from North and North East) winds on Sunday and Monday This may be a multi-day heat event These elements combine to produce critical fire weather. I anticipate the National Weather Service will issue a Fire Weather Watch (a FWW means critical fire weather MAY occur) on Tuesday for the Sunday-Tuesday timeframe. I expect this to be converted to a Red Flag Warning (a RFW means critical fire weather Will occur) by the weekend. I am also anticipating a P.G.&E. Public Safety Power Shutdown event to accompany the critical fire weather. This is just my assessment. PGE has not made any forecasts of a PSPS event yet. Please share this “heads up” with your communities as you desire. Mark Heine, Fire Chief Sonoma County Fire District 8200 Old Redwood Hwy Windsor, CA 95492 707-838-1170 Mheine@sonomacountyfd.org
